The ash content measurement is based on the different absorption of radiation in different materials
To measure the radiation, it has to be absorbed: the denser the material, the higher the absorption.
The ash content measurement from RGI is ideal for use in extreme measurement environments.
A high, naturally caused, amount of non-usable material when mining coal - so-called ash content - pushes up the costs and effort for the extraction and after-treatment.
By means of measuring systems specially developed for this task at RGI, the ash content can already be determined on site in order to achieve the best possible funding results.
Our measuring systems work absolutely contactless and maintenance-free. They provide precise density and concentration measurements of bulk goods, liquids such as acids, alkalis, solutions and suspensions.
The ash content measurement from RGI is therefore ideal for use in extreme measuring environments and is not unaffected by ambient and competitive conditions.
In order to measure radiation, it must be absorbed: the denser the absorbent material, the stronger the absorption.
If a gas-filled counter tube or an ionization chamber is used as the detector, the absorber is a gas with a very low density, which means that most of the radiation passes through without interaction.
On the other hand, if a sodium iodide crystal with a higher density than gas is used, most of the radiation is absorbed.
